Term Time Holiday

Amendments to The Education Regulations 2006 come into force on 1st September 2013.

These amendments make clear that Headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. These are only likely to include exceptional family circumstances and will not, for example, include reasons of cost or convenience.  This means that very few holiday absences will now be authorised and, therefore, that the holiday forms that have previously been used will be discontinued.  If you believe that their circumstances are exceptional you should make a holiday request in writing to the Headteacher (at least 28 days before the date of the holiday).  The Headteacher will notify you of his decision by letter.

If you do not make a written request or if it is turned down, and you still take your child out of the Academy, then the absence will be marked as unauthorised. Please note that 10 or more unauthorised sessions of absence (i.e. 5 days) may result in the issue of a Fixed Penalty Notice (effectively a £60 fine per student, per parent/carer, rising to £120 if not paid within 28 days).
