The Rotary Club Awards 2018

We once again celebrated community achievements at The Macclesfield Academy.  The Rotary Club has kindly agreed to fund a number of awards for students who go above and beyond in the communities in which they live.  There are three Award Ceremonies this year with another award ceremony later this term.

At our ceremony in May awards were received by:

Sharnagh Dennehy – for funds raised for worthy causes.   She helps out with children and young people in the Guides and at Brownies and also helps at her local church

Harry White – raised funds for worthy causes through a variety of means including playing brass instruments.

Joe Lomas – raised funds for worthy causes through a variety of means.  He also is very involved in his Scout group and helps with Cubs.

Liam Belford – has raised funds for worthy causes through a variety of means including playing brass instruments.

Ruby Claydon-Bell – Ruby has been amazing in Enrichment making clothes for Cambodia.  She has made lots of garments including dresses and trousers, both this year and last.  She has also helped others with their sewing and in using the sewing machines. She has set up all the sewing machines for the class too.  She has become very competent on the sewing machine, and will be able to make her own clothes in the future.

Ms Halsall, Deputy Head said: ‘The Macclesfield Academy is so pleased to be celebrating being part of the community which we serve and honouring young people who are at the heart of making a difference to place where we live and work.’
