The artist Tim Davies visited the Academy today to help students with an exciting new project. The project is funded by the council and involves Primary schools and Macclesfield College to create a collaborative community art piece which will form part of the décor at Macclesfield train station. The artwork our students create is going to be part of a permanent display at the train station.
Today, classes with Tim involved silk screen printing, with students carefully making stencils for the screen based on local buildings. They then printed onto fabric using the screens. The final artwork will be created using steel as it is hardwearing and weatherproof.
Art teacher Mrs Hooper said “This is great opportunity for the students to work with a professional artist. Its also very exciting that their work will be on display at the train station long after they have left The Macclesfield Academy”.
