Mrs Kerry Locke
Our Year 7 Manager is Mrs Kerry Locke. She will be with you during your first year at the Macclesfield Academy.
Our tours take place during a normal school day and give you an opportunity to see what life is like here at The Macclesfield Academy. Click here to book onto a tour.
At the Macclesfield Academy you won’t be in the same classroom all day. You will move around the school to different classrooms and be taught a variety of subjects by different teachers.
The day starts with form time with your assigned form teacher who you will see every day. Some mornings you will join your year group in the Main Hall for assemblies and presentations.
There is a two week timetable here and you are given your timetable during your first week. It is important to be organised and ensure you look at your timetable each evening and pack the items you need. You will carry your books and equipment in a school bag with the following compulsory items:
Our Curriculum has ambition, breadth, knowledge and quality. Students spend three years at Key stage three, developing understanding and knowledge of a broad range of subjects. Two years are then spent at Key Stage four to enable students to remember more, learn more and take examinations when they are the most mature.
Our Essential Skills and Knowledge (ESK) ‘Red Dot’ sheets are used from year 7-11 to help students understand and retain the important aspects of their learning. Red dots will become a familiar and helpful part of your school life!
The subjects taught at The Macclesfield Academy are:
We encourage you to take part in extra curricular activities here at The Academy. We have sports teams where you can represent us in football, ruby, boccia and netball. You can take up dance or cheerleading or perform in school musicals and concerts. We have a book club, science club, and we run the Duke of Edinburgh Awards for when you are older. We also have opportunities for you to take part in school life by becoming an ambassador for the school and helping out with events for primary schools and parents.
You will be expected to complete homework to help with your learning. The Macclesfield Academy uses Sharepoint – a login and a password will be given to you in September.
