Year 11 Support

Click here for a special message from your Headteacher, Mr. Hedge.

The purpose of this section of the website is to provide support and guidance during the next coming weeks and months.

We know your time at Macclesfield Academy was cut short and we wanted to let you know that your education, wellbeing, careers and questions are still important to us, we have not forgotten you! Many of you will have questions and worries about your exams and your post 16 plans so this page is here to help you and to reassure you that you are not alone.

We answer your top questions!

When do I get my exam results?

At the moment there has been another change to the exam result process.  You will now receive your results no later than August 19th which was the original results day.  On results day we will be making appointments to discuss your results with you and help you to plan the next steps in your future.  We will get in contact nearer the time when we have a confirmed results day and let you know the process.

I haven’t finished making plans for September

It’s not too late to apply, as colleges and most sixth forms are still open for applications.

Check websites and social media to see whether they are still open for applications and check their entry requirements (how many GCSEs or qualifications you need) before you apply. Some Colleges are hosting virtual open days so make sure you sign up for those. Open days and events like this enable you to ask questions directly to tutors and people who organise the courses so can be very useful.

I still don’t know what to do after Year 11

I am waiting for a response from a sixth form or college

Check the email account you put on your application. Check your spam folder. If there are no messages – do not worry –the sixth form/college know that you have applied and will be in touch in due course. If you are concerned, look at their website and social media for updates or contact them by email. Responses from schools/colleges may be delayed due to the current circumstances, so please be patient.

If, having tried all of the suggestions above, you still haven’t heard anything back,  contact sally.burgess@macclesfieldacademy.org at The Macclesfield Academy.

I have been offered a place for September at a sixth form or college

The sixth form/college will be in touch if anything has changed since they last contacted you so keep checking your emails. If you are concerned, look at their website and social media for updates or contact them by email. Responses from schools/colleges may be delayed due to the current circumstances, so please be patient.

Whilst you are awaiting contact, work through these study and support packs on our transition page which are intended to assist you in preparing to start your new courses. You can also use this as an opportunity to explore subjects you think you might be interested in studying.

I would like an apprenticeship

You can find more information about apprenticeships using these websites.

If you want an apprenticeship in a specific career, it’s worth looking at the big brand names as they often run their own apprenticeship schemes, eg. BBC, ITV, Murphy.

Just type in a career or brand name you like and ‘apprenticeship’ next to it to see if they run any that interest you.

I want to join the Armed Forces

These websites will let you check if you are eligible:

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any support, guidance or advice.
