Primary Pupils Solder on in Bug Making Masterclass!

On Thursday 29th June 2023, D&T teacher Mrs Lucas delivered a Masterclass for year 4 and 5 pupils, titled 'An Introduction to Soldering' - a popular and fully booked session! 

With safety equipment donned and soldering irons warming up, Mrs Lucas demonstrated each part of the process for making a wire bug - from stripping wires, cutting and creating bends to the fiddly task of getting the solder to fix all parts in place. 

All students enjoyed the challenge at hand and had a go at each element of the soldering process - with help on hand when needed. The end products were fantastic, with each bug standing firmly on 6 legs and students smiling as they left with their own hand crafted critter.
