The Macclesfield Academy Year 11 Application Workshop

On Friday 19th January, The Macclesfield Academy welcomed Mrs Kerry Galvin, from Sir John Deans Sixth form College, to host our Year 11 Application Workshop.

 Our Year 11 Students took time out from their timetable this morning to get help and advice on how to apply for college from a well know face from Sir John Deans Sixth Form College. Over the morning the students worked in groups to learn about themselves and to highlight their own strengths and skills that will help them with the application process when applying for College. They were taught the importance of getting involved in out of school activities and were treated to a short video from Mr Galvin talking about the many volunteering roles he has been part of from teenage years to present. 

The students then had the chance to ask each other questions as interviewee and interviewer after learning how to talk about themselves using the knowledge gain during the workshop, all the students got involved and took away some great skills to prepare them for the next chapter in their academic lives. 

Also a special thank you to Macclesfield College for allowing us to use their canteen to host the workshop.
