On Sunday 12th March, The Friends of the Macclesfield Academy held their first Car Boot sale here at The Macclesfield Academy, to raise funds for additional outdoor seating for students.

After a week of wind, rain and snow - the sun finally made an appearance in time for car booters to set up stall on the South Yard of our school grounds. There was a great selection of bargains to be bought, from antiques to games to clothes and art and craft stalls, alongside familiar names such as, Tatton Perk coffee van and Treacle Town Tray Bakes, providing a fantastic selection of hot drinks and freshly baked goods.

Buyers began to stream in from 9am, filling the South Yard with a buzz of activity and as the morning went on, happy faces came and went, many walking out weighed down by bags filled with purchases from the selection of 40 stalls pitched up.

The event was a great success, with up to 400 buyers entering the gates and stall holders eager to return for future car boot fairs held at The Macclesfield Academy and over £600 raised for outdoor seating! It was a fantastic example of what can be achieved by our school community and a boost for The Friends of the Macclesfield Academy, who organised and promoted the sale in the months prior.

After the success of their first car boot sale, The Friends of the Macclesfield Academy (FOTMA) are eager to continue this event on a regular basis, but need your help!

If you would like to get involved and would be willing to volunteer for 2 hours a month to help with fundraising; whether this be staffing the BBQ, taking money on the gate or helping to park sellers, the next meeting to discuss plans will take place on Thursday 23rd March at 6pm, in the school building.

Whether you would like to attend in person, join the meeting via Teams or want to help but can't make the meeting itself, please email:
