The Macclesfield Academy is a small, inclusive school and we are looking for a new Headteacher following the retirement of our current Head after 9 years’ distinguished service.
We are looking for an exceptional leader who can embrace our small school ethos and bring the vision and skills required to take the Academy forward in its drive for school improvement and curriculum reform.
The Macclesfield Academy opened in 2011; our mission from the start was to create an outstanding small school which would offer a distinctively different choice for the families of Macclesfield.
That distinctive difference has crystallised around three key themes:
we are a welcoming community where every child can be known and cared for as an individual; we offer a personalised curriculum which can be planned and modified to meet the strengths and interests of each individual learner and we provide an enriched experience where every student can find their own role and develop their own interests.
The Academy presents an exciting challenge: to move the school to Ofsted’s ‘Good’ judgement at the earliest opportunity and subsequently ‘Outstanding’. Our last report and 2020 results confirm this goal is within reach and the successful candidate will have the support of a committed staff and experienced Governing Body as well as external support from our local Teaching School.
The school operates on a sound financial basis and it collaborates closely with its feeder primary schools. We are currently a single academy trust but our Trustees are evaluating the opportunities of joining a multi academy trust which would bring significant benefits.
We are looking for a passionate educationalist with strong leadership skills who understands a small school culture and who can demonstrate their experience of delivering school improvement and curriculum design. The successful candidate will strengthen our good but variable academic performance and create the conditions for our students to develop the skills, qualities and qualifications required to thrive in an uncertain world.
We welcome applications from serving Headteachers who are looking for a new challenge or from high performing Deputy Heads who are ready to lead their own school.
The Macclesfield Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All appointments are made subject to receipt of a completed application form, satisfactory references and Enhanced DBS Disclosure.
