The Macclesfield Academy Open Evening 2023!Back
On Thursday 14th September 2023, we opened our doors to a record number of prospective students and families, welcoming them to our annual Open Evening at The Macclesfield Academy.
The evening kicked off with a talk in the main hall from Headteacher Mr Galvin, who also introduced to the stage other members of the Senior Leadership team, current students and CEO of the Sir John Brunner Foundation, Matt Snelson. Each speaker delivered a short talk to a packed hall, sharing our school's values and ethos, as well as expectations for academic excellence and behaviour. Our students, including the Student Leadership team, represented the school brilliantly as they shared their experiences as learners at The Macclesfield Academy.
Beyond the hall, there was a buzz along the corridors as families made their way between departments, many guided on our student led tours. Each subject hosted a range of practical demonstrations and activities, including experiments and dissections in Science, quizzes and games in maths and hands on crafts and drawing in D&T and art. Displays of quality pieces of work by current students adorned the classrooms and our passionate teaching staff engaged in discussion about the exciting curriculum offered.
The Open Evening was also a brilliant opportunity to show the fantastic facilities available at The Macclesfield Academy, from our calming and peaceful upstairs library with lovely views onto the hills, to our multi purpose sports hall, where students were able to jump on trampolines and compete in a game of table tennis.
Overall, the evening was filled with positivity, exploration and a wonderful representation of our school community. Well done and thank you to all our students who volunteered to help out as proud ambassadors of our school.
