Religious Studies Curriculum Intent

"Religious Education at our school is a rigorous and inclusive subject that begins with people—what they do, believe, and why—exploring the diversity of lived experiences through theology, philosophy, and the human/social sciences. Rooted in the Religion and Worldviews approach, our curriculum empowers pupils to think critically about the world, recognising that knowledge is constructed, contested, and shaped by human interpretation. It sparks curiosity, challenges illogical arguments, and fosters respectful dialogue, equipping students with the skills to engage thoughtfully with complex ideas and diverse perspectives. RE plays a vital role in developing character and cultural capital, contributing to pupils’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development and promoting British values such as tolerance, mutual respect, and individual liberty. Through ethical reflection and analytical writing, students learn to articulate their views clearly, understand others deeply, and navigate the pluralistic society they are part of."

We follow the AQA Religious Studies A Specification.
