An Audience with Author, Michael Lewis
Back
On Wednesday 19th November TMA welcomed author Michael Lewis to The Academy to talk to students about his new book "Flight From Prague, The Making of a Refugee".
The book
is the true story of Michael's father, Harry Lewy, who fled from Czechoslovakia in 1938 as German soldiers streamed across the border. Michael's talk extended to discuss not only the personal flight of his family, but the wider issues of the Nazi occupation in Europe. This was of particular relevance to our Y10 and Y11 history students who are studying this era for GCSE.
Michael, a former Headteacher of 20 years, was extremely impressed by our school and the warm welcome he received. He commented on the students' impeccable behaviour in a packed hall, "the children were an absolute credit to the school and themselves".
We will be purchasing some copies of the book to place in our school library so students can learn more.
