TMA is particularly proud of the achievements of Y8 student, Eli, who spends his spare time mountaineering to great heights.

Over the summer Eli managed to scramble Aonach Eagach in 16 hours, conquer Ben Nevis via Tower ridge, summit Coire an t-Sneachda via Fiacaill Ridge and Lochan via Y gully.

Many of these routes are tricky and exposed and are generally lifetime goals for most adult mountaineers.  Although he has enjoyed climbing all his life, Eli has only been mountaineering for the last two years. So far he has tackled ranges in Scotland and Wales but his ambition is to cover the Alps in one go.

According to Eli, “the most enjoyable part is when you finally reach the top!”

While camping in Scotland not only was Eli mountaineering but he also went tubing down rivers, paddle boarding to islands and kayaking round lochs.

PE Teacher, Mr Worstencroft said “We are so impressed at what Eli has already achieved and we look forward to hearing all about his future conquests.  He is our very own Bear Grylls!"
