The Macclesfield Academy (TMA) was delighted to host Tim Roca, Member of Parliament for Macclesfield, for a day of political engagement and student-led discussion today.
The visit began with an exclusive 30-minute roundtable between Mr Roca and the academy’s incoming and outgoing School Captains. This session provided a unique platform for student leaders to discuss the transition of responsibility and the impact of local advocacy.
Following the leadership briefing, Mr Roca addressed students from Years 7 to 9. He shared personal insights into his journey in politics and the daily realities of representing a constituency. The floor was then opened for a Q&A session, where students challenged the MP with probing questions on national policy and local issues.
"We are incredibly grateful to Tim Roca for taking the time to visit us on such a busy day," said headteacher, Mr Galvin. "Our students dealt with the session skillfully, demonstrating critical thinking and a keen interest in the democratic process."
The event marks a continued commitment by TMA to foster political literacy and empower students to find their voices in the community.
