TMA Announces Seamless Interim Leadership Transition with a Strong Focus on Future Growth and Excellence
Back

The Macclesfield Academy (TMA) and The Sir John Brunner Foundation have announced a leadership transition designed to guarantee complete stability, structural continuity, and unwavering standards for both current students and prospective families.
Following the departure of former Headteacher Mr Galvin, who is moving on to the next stage of his professional career, Mrs Sarah du Plessis has stepped forward to serve as Interim Headteacher of The Macclesfield Academy. Mrs du Plessis brings unmatched familiarity to the role, having worked intimately with TMA for over three years in her capacity as the Executive Lead for Secondary Education at The Sir John Brunner Foundation.
While the Academy will now begin a thorough search for a permanent Headteacher—with an official appointment anticipated for Easter or September—Mrs du Plessis's immediate leadership ensures that the school's strategic vision and daily excellence remain entirely uninterrupted.
With a firm focus on future development, the Academy ensures that its primary focus remains delivering top-tier education and unique opportunities for all students, including the rising cohorts preparing to join the school family in Year 7 for September 2027.
"Having worked closely with the academy for over three years, I know the school well, deeply share its core values, and have collaborated directly with school leaders to shape the exceptional secondary school parents choose for their children," stated Mrs du Plessis. "As Headteacher, I am fully committed to providing stability, upholding our high standards, and supporting the school's continued success and growth."
To further strengthen this seamless transition, Mrs du Plessis is launching a dedicated primary school outreach initiative over the coming weeks. She will be visiting partner primary schools across the region to meet staff and children in person, introduce herself, and reinforce the vital relationships that underpin a happy, successful move up to secondary school.
Prospective families can expect direct communication from the Academy later this term, providing further information on curriculum advancements, upcoming open events, and transition milestones.
The Macclesfield Academy and The Sir John Brunner Foundation look forward to working hand-in-hand with primary colleagues and local families to ensure every child is fully supported as they begin the next exciting stage of their educational journey.
